Tricks to keeping your heart young and healthy

Increase Your Physical Activity: Increasing physical activity and movement doesn’t just mean exercising. According to a recent study, performing simple tasks like carrying a heavy shopping bag for a few minutes or taking the stairs instead of the elevator can halve the risk of a heart attack. However, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) notes that the benefits of these incidental activities never quite match those of regular exercise, which should be at least 150 minutes per week.

Nevertheless, for those who spend most of their day sitting at a desk with little movement, these strategies can have a significant impact on health. Using stairs instead of elevators, walking while on phone calls, carrying heavy shopping bags, parking further away from your destination, doing stretching exercises, or walking while watching TV can all contribute to reducing the risk of heart attacks and cardiovascular issues.
