The beauty queen who became Trump’s deputy envoy to the Middle East

Trump, in a post on the social media platform Truth Social regarding the selection of Morgan Ortagus, wrote: “In the past, Morgan opposed me for three years, but I hope she has now gained enough experience.” In response, Ortagus expressed gratitude to Trump and her pleasure in serving in his administration, writing:

“The most important thing during Trump’s tenure is for the United States to bring peace and stability to a troubled region.” Ortagus has now joined a team led by Steve Witkoff, a close and trusted friend of Trump, to work on Middle Eastern affairs as the “peace team.” They have priorities including the release of all Israeli hostages held by Hamas, presenting a plan for post-war Gaza, and addressing the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. There are also predictions that Witkoff and Ortagus, both being Jewish, will work towards one of Trump’s key foreign policy goals: achieving a peace agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
