The beauty queen who became Trump’s deputy envoy to the Middle East
Following the killing of Qasem Soleimani in January 2019, Ortagus responded by stating, “No one has suffered more from Qasem Soleimani’s savagery and terrorism than the people themselves.” In her statements, she has emphasized that the Islamic Republic uses its proxy forces to “incite terrorism throughout the region” and warned that the U.S. would stand against these actions.
In another statement, reacting to a pre-recorded speech by then regmies president at the United Nations General Assembly, Ortagus tweeted, “Hassan Rouhani claimed at the 75th UN General Assembly that regime supports peace and fights extremism. If so, why has the regime spent over $16 billion since 2012 aiding its proxies and terror partners? That money, stolen from the people, should be returned to them.” She continued, “U.S. sanctions target regime’s support for terrorism, nuclear programs, and corrupt officials who oppress the people, not humanitarian aid.”
