If you can’t sleep at night, what should you not do?

Numerous factors can influence sleeplessness:

from the appropriate time to consult a doctor to factors like aging, the need to urinate at night, menopause, or work shifts. The team behind the BBC program “A Look Inside Health” gathered a group of experts to share their advice on this topic.

Dr. Heer and Professor Espie are generally not in favor of using medications and say that the best approach to combat insomnia is through “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” (CBT). This psychological treatment helps people solve their problems by changing their thinking and behavior patterns. It is one of the best solutions for treating insomnia.

Dr. Heer states: “The best treatment for insomnia, which is also backed by evidence, is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This method is effective for 70 to 80 percent of people, and 50 percent of those individuals experience complete resolution of their insomnia.”
