Four phone charging mistakes that shorten battery life
Battery Charge Optimization: Most phones have a built-in battery management system that can help maintain battery life without requiring any specific action from you.
On an iPhone, if you go to the “Battery Health & Charging” section in the settings, you’ll see an option to enable “Optimized Battery Charging.” This setting considers your usual charging routine and daily phone usage to determine when your phone needs to charge above 80%.
Android phones also have a similar feature called “Adaptive Charging” that optimizes battery lifespan.
Disclaimer: Nowadays, mobile phones use lithium-ion batteries, which have become a key part of portable or mobile technology since the 1990s due to their ability to store energy in a small space. While these batteries charge quickly and have a longer lifespan compared to other types, that doesn’t mean they last forever. Sandeep Anikrishnan, Chief Technology Officer at Lionvolt, a battery innovation company, says that “a phone’s battery life decreases over time due to internal electrochemical degradation.”
