Research to determine which probiotics help with weight loss or prevention is limited, with many studies small in scale. It’s not yet clear which probiotic will work for which individual for the desired effect. Therefore, adding probiotics to one’s diet might involve trial and error.
At least one research study has shown that the following probiotic bacterial strains can aid in reducing body weight. Most research has focused on Lactobacillus species, with some studies including Bifidobacterium:
