Do probiotics really help with weight loss and reducing belly fat?

What studies show about weight loss and belly fat reduction: Most research on probiotics and weight has been conducted on animals. The lack of human studies means there isn’t enough information to provide recommendations on probiotic supplements.

A review involving six research articles examined probiotic use for preventing weight gain. Not all studies agreed on how probiotics affect weight.

In 67% of studies, participants taking probiotics had lower body weight and BMI.

In 80% of studies, those taking probiotics had reduced waist circumference.

Few human studies have been conducted on the probiotic bacterium Lactobacillus gasseri. In one study, participants taking L. gasseri SBT2055 experienced reductions in belly fat and body weight. Another study with L. gasseri BNR17 showed no changes.
