A charming Swede who breaks records as easily as drinking water

A Smart Record-Breaking Strategy At the Paris Olympics last summer, Duplantis not only broke the world record with a 6.25-meter jump but also secured his second gold medal. Just 20 days later, at the Diamond League event in Chorzów, Poland, he improved the world record by another centimeter and claimed victory once again.

In Paris, Duplantis could have jumped 6.26 meters and broken the record again, but he chose to save it for another competition. It seems the reason behind this—and why he only improves the record by one centimeter in each event—is to maximize attention. More attention, of course, translates to greater fame and, consequently, more money.
